Ally Orientation and Introduction Session on Thursday, August 27 at 12pm to 1pm in WPH 403. This is an opportunity for new Allies to learn about the LGBT supportive services on our campus as well as within Los Angeles. This is a workshop for new Allies, so please encourage your friends to participate.
Progress Report: Obama Administration & LGBT Rights on Thursday, September 3 from 12pm to 1pm in WPH 403. This discussion will address the recent criticisms against the Obama Administration from LGBT activists and also explore the politics behind delaying action for LGBT equality. Some positions discussed will be ENDA, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Policy, Hate Crimes Bill, Gay Marriage and Federal Partner Benefits.
Gay Athletes on Thursday, October 1 from 12pm to 1pm in WPH 403.Hear from professional staff members who work or have worked closely with closeted athletes. Participants will attempt to understand the pressures and hardships gay and lesbian athletes may experience daily and also comprehend their reasoning for remaining closeted.
International Reflection on LGBT Rights & Equality on Thursday, November 5 from 12pm to 1pm in WPH 403. This discussion will address the circumstances international students must experiences being LGBT in their perspective countries. Participants will hear honest commentaries from gay Indian students.
Ballot 2010: Gay Marriage on Thursday, December 3 from 12pm to 1pm in WPH 403. Participants will hear from legal analysts and understand why LGBT advocacy organizations want gay marriage on the ballot in 2010. Also, we will discuss the expectations and strategies moving forward as well as provide a glimpse of the governor candidates and their positions on LGBT issues.
